आज भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) के गवर्नर ऊर्जित पटेल ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। ऊर्जित पटेल ने निजी कारण बताते हुए अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया है। उन्होंने कहा की मैं अपने निजी कारणों से अपने पद से हटने का फैसला किया है।’ उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) में काम करना मेरे लिए गर्व की बात है।
गौरतलब है कि भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) की स्वायत्ता और उसके रिजर्व को सरकार को ट्रांसफर किए जाने समेत अन्य अहम मुद्दों पर सरकार के साथ टकराव चल रहा था। ऊर्जित पटेल हाल ही में वित्तीय मामलों पर गठित संसदीय समिति के समक्ष भी पेश हुए थे, जहां उन्होंने नोटबंदी के फैसले पर सावधानी पूर्वक जवाब दिया था।
नोटबंदी को लेकर पूछे गए सवाल का जवाब देते हुए भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आरबीआई) गवर्नर ने कहा कि इससे अर्थव्यवस्था पर ‘क्षणिक’ प्रभाव पड़ा। हालांकि उन्होंने आरबीआई एक्ट की धारा 7 को बहाल किए जाने, एनपीए और केंद्रीय बैंक की स्वायत्ता के साथ अन्य विवादित मुद्दों को लेकर स्पष्ट जवाब नहीं दिया।
